This 1974 Gibson J50 Deluxe has 46 years of wood aging behind it and sounds glorious. While there are certainly detractors to the 70s J50, to those who have played them and know their reliability, they’re a hidden gem.
This particular guitar has had some repairs done and had the janky height adjustable saddle replaced with a bone saddle. Underneath you’ll find a Maton AP5 pickup and preamp for live use. Finally, a vintage guitar that isn’t afraid to be taken around.
The hard case is testament to this with tags and stickers going back 25+ years of flying and hotels.
There have been a few cracks repaired in the side on the upper shoulder and they’ve been shored up with cleats. The frets have some wear, but no buzz and the action is a sweet modern playing mid height.
The original tuners have been replaced with some modern Kluson style and turn smooth and free.
